Welcome to your Theatre Cats update! *100% Pass Rate for Trinity Exam Students* 59 Theatre Cats students from our Burton, Newhall and Derby classes had their Trinity Drama exams on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th July. The day was a huge success with a every single student passing for the second year running. We look forward to presenting the certificates to the students when they come back this week. Well done to everyone involved! *The Wizard of Oz– A Summer School Success!* 60 students from Theatre Cats Stage School have recently rehearsed and performed a show within a week. Children between 5 and 16 years of age came to the summer school every day to learn all the songs, dances and acting skills to be able to perform the stage version of The Wizard of Oz. The summer schools ran from Monday 2nd to Friday 6th August at The William Allitt School in Newhall and Monday 23rd – Friday 27th August at Heatherton Community Centre in Littleover. On the last day there was a performance to family and friends to showcase the talents of the youngsters. 'It's amazing what you did in just four days. The children were obviously really enjoying themselves' said one parent. The children were so dedicated and they enjoyed every second. We were very proud of them. *Change of Burton Venue* From September 2010 our Burton class on a Monday evening will be taking place at The Brewhouse Arts Centre. Other Burton classes remain unchanged. *When Does the Winter Term Start?* All classes start this coming week and we have some great things planned so we look forward to seeing all students back and raring to go! Parents can then meet the teachers and ask any questions they may have. It also gives the child the opportunity to try something new without obligation. If your child is not currently a Theatre Cats student, we do have a few places available for the new term. Older Classes Performing to Younger Classes this Week
Monday, March 29th, 2010A little reminder that our older students (Saturday class 11:40-12:50) are performing their TIE piece at The William Allitt School on Tuesday 30th March at 5:00-6:15pm and they will need all of their costumes and props.
(Tuesday class 7:45-8:45) are performing their TIE piece at The William Allitt School on Tuesday 30th March at 6:15-7:30pm and they will need all of their costumes and props. They will also have their class as normal afterwards.
(Wednesday class 7:45-8:45) are performing their TIE piece at The Royal British Legion on Wednesday 31st March at 6:15-7:30pm and they will need all of their costumes and props. They will also have their class as normal afterwards.

Winter Drama Classes Newsletter 2009

Winter Newsletter 2009 We’re now at the end of term and Christmas is on the horizon, but first, a recap of the fabulous achievements at Theatre Cats and what’s just around the corner: Christmas Showcase performances… Over 140 students recently took part in our Christmas Showcase performances at The William Allitt School on Saturday 12th December. There were 3 performances on the day, each to sell-out audiences. We understand that it was a little cramped at times in the audience but of course we didn’t want anyone to miss the chance to see their child perform. Our students had been working hard on their songs, poems, drama pieces and dance routines to entertain and showcase their talents. Well done to all involved – you made us very proud! Trinity Guildhall Examinations… 45 Theatre Cats students from our Burton, Newhall and Derby classes took Trinity Guildhall drama exams in July 2009 and achieved 100% pass rate. We will be running |
another exam session in 2010, however, places will be limited to the first 45 students so watch this space! The Team at Theatre Cats…Since September 09 we have had a number of new teachers and assistants join the team. We have welcomed Tom Brassington, Alex Fung, Kyle Lamley and Laura Huxley to Theatre Cats and they are enjoying every minute! When Does Next Term Start?Mon 4th Jan – Burton Tues 5h Jan – Newhall Wed 6th Jan – Derby Fri 8th Jan – Uttoxeter Sat 9th Jan – Burton (first 2 classes at The William Allitt School in Newhall) It’s Behind You!!!! It’s panto season and 40 students are going to see Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on Saturday 23rd January at The Brewhouse in Burton. Starring our very own Tom Brassington as the Dame, Fiona Parker as the Mirror and Lauren Taylor as the Wicked Queen! One of our young Burton students: Sarah Huthmacher is also playing her début role in the show. The Saturday performance is now full but we still have places available for Thursday 21st January. New Classes Starting in 2010…We are going to be launching our new Theatre Kittens classes for 2-4 year olds (pre-school) in Burton and Derby. New Student Enrollment for January 2010
Tuesday, November 17th, 2009Our Theatre Cats students in Burton, Newhall and Derby and currently rehearsing for their Christmas Showcase performance which is in a few weeks. Due to this, we are not inviting new students for a taster class until January 2010. However, Uttoxeter classes will still be inviting new students for taster classes as they are not doing a big performance this term due to Uttoxeter being a new venue.
If you would like your child to attend a free taster class, simply register your details on our Information Request Form.

Theatre Cats Christmas Performances
Tuesday, November 17th, 2009Here is a copy of the performance details for Saturday 12th December 2009 for Theatre Cats Burton, Newhall and Derby.
Dear Parent/Guardian,
We are pleased to announce the date of our Christmas Showcase performance which will be on Saturday 12th December. The performance will take place in the Dance Studio at The William Allitt School in Newhall.
We have decided to bring all of our students together to meet other students in their age group from Burton, Newhall and Mickleover. A great way of making new friends, learning from other people and gaining even more confidence.
Our intermediate students will be starting the day by arriving at the school at 9:30am. They will then have a dress rehearsal and their performance will be at 11:30am and will last approximately an hour. Our intermediate students will then go home. (Intermediate students are those who have a class at 6:30-7:30 during the week or 10:30-11:30 at the weekend.)
Our younger students will then arrive at 1:30pm. They will then have a dress rehearsal and their performance will be at 3:30pm and will last approximately an hour. Our younger students will then go home. (Younger students are those who have a class at 5:15-6:15 during the week or 9:15-10:15 at the weekend.)
Our older students will then arrive at 5:30pm. They will then have a dress rehearsal and their performance will be at 7:30pm and will last approximately an hour. Our older students will then go home. (Older students are those who have a class at 7:45-8:45 during the week or 11:40-12:50 at the weekend and also 5:00-6:10 on Mondays.)
If you know that your child cannot attend their Christmas Showcase performance can you please inform me immediately so that we know not to include them in dance routines etc.
Due to the number of students involved and seating limitations, I have only been able to currently allocate
2 tickets per student. However, if you would like more tickets, please request how many you would like and we will do our best to distribute them. The deadline for returning the ticket request slip is Monday 9th November. Any remaining tickets will then be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis. Adult tickets are £5 and concession tickets (children 16 or under and OAPs) are £3. Please enclose payment and slip in an envelope clearly marked with your child’s name. Please make cheques payable to Theatre Cats.
If you do not require any tickets please let us know asap as we can allocate these to other people. The tickets will not be allocated to a certain seat, so you will simply be able to choose where you would like to sit on the day.
The students will all need to wear either black jazz shoes or similar such as black school pumps which they can dance in. They will also need a plain single coloured t-shirt (no logos) and either jeans or black trousers.
Further information regarding what they will have to wear will follow.
