The title card for the musical comedy series G...

Just a quick message to remind you of our new exciting Glee Clubs which are opening on Monday 13th June in Burton!

We have already had great coverage by InBurton.co.uk and the Burton Mail which has generated a lot of interest! However there is still time to get your child’s name on the list if they are between the ages of 10-16. We are also opening a class for adults too.

Here is some more information for you:

  • Do you love Glee?
  • Do you want to sing and have lots of fun whilst being in a show choir?

Then get some Glee in your life and join our Glee Club Burton on Trent!

There will be initially 2 classes opening on Monday 13th June 2011 at The Brewhouse Arts Centre in Burton. The first at 6:30-7:30pm for 10-16 year olds and the second at 7:45-8:45pm for adults.

Your first class is FREE so you can see exactly what’s in store without it costing a penny!

For existing Theatre Cats students and their parents it will cost just £3.00. FAQ
Q: Do I need to be able to have a really good singing voice?
A: No, just a desire to make music and have fun. A lot of what we will be doing will be choral where many voices are singing together to create a beautiful sound.

Q: Do I have to sing on my own?
A: No. Not if you don’t wish to. Some of the songs will have solos but these will be given to those who want to sing on their own.

Q: What is harmony?
A: Harmony is when you have a number of ‘tunes’ that are sung together at the same time. It comes from the Greek verb ἁρμόζω (harmozo) which means: “to fit together, to join.”

Q: What is unison?
A: This is where several singers are singing the same melody together.

Q: Will I have to audition to join?
A: No. Auditions can intimidate people and we want our Glee Choir to be welcoming for everyone.

Q: How much will it cost?
A: Your first class is FREE! Subsequent classes will be £5 per week, however, if you pay for 4 weeks then you will get the 5th week free! Existing Theatre Cats students and their parents it will cost just £3.00. If you introduce a friend to Glee Club and they enrol after their free class you will then get your next class half price!

Drama School Update September 2010

Monday, September 6th, 2010
Welcome to your Theatre Cats update!

*100% Pass Rate for Trinity Exam Students*

59 Theatre Cats students from our Burton, Newhall and Derby
classes had their Trinity Drama exams on Saturday
17th and Sunday 18th July. The day was a huge success with a
every single student passing for the second year running.
We look forward to presenting the certificates to the students
when they come back this week. Well done to everyone involved!

*The Wizard of Oz– A Summer School Success!*

60 students from Theatre Cats Stage School have recently
rehearsed and performed a show within a week. Children between 5
and 16 years of age came to the summer school every day to learn
all the songs, dances and acting skills to be able to perform
the stage version of The Wizard of Oz.

The summer schools ran from Monday 2nd to Friday 6th August at
The William Allitt School in Newhall and Monday 23rd – Friday 27th
August at Heatherton Community Centre in Littleover. On the last
day there was a performance to family and friends to showcase the
talents of the youngsters. 'It's amazing what you did in just four
days. The children were obviously really enjoying themselves' said
one parent.

The children were so dedicated and they enjoyed every second.
We were very proud of them.

*Change of Burton Venue*

From September 2010 our Burton class on a Monday evening will be
taking place at The Brewhouse Arts Centre. Other Burton classes
remain unchanged.

*When Does the Winter Term Start?*

All classes start this coming week and we have some great things
planned so we look forward to seeing all students back and raring
to go!

Mon 6th Sep – Burton
Tues 7th Sep – Newhall
Wed 8th Sep – Mickleover and Theatre Kittens Burton
Fri 10th Sep – Theatre Kittens Mickleover
Sat 11th Sep – Burton

Please note there will be no Theatre Cats classes during the week
Monday 13th – Sunday 19th September due to many of our staff
being involved in Footloose at The Brewhouse Arts Centre. If you'd
like to come and see the show and support us, we'd love to see you
there. You can see details of the show at:
http://www.mellow-dramatics.org and the Box Office telephone
number is 01283 508100.

*Free Drama Workshop*

We at Theatre Cats believe that parents need reassurance when
enrolling their child on a new team or at a new club and this is
why Theatre Cats offers every child the chance to attend their
first class for free! Parents can then meet the teachers and ask
any questions they may have. It also gives the child the
opportunity to try something new without obligation.

If your child is not currently a Theatre Cats student, we do have
a few places available for the new term. Please reply to this
email or call me on 0845 003 8230 to register your child for one
of the available places or discuss which class would be best for
them.

New invites for this term have already been sent out via email
and post to those who have requested them, however, if you haven't
received yours please contact us by replying to this email and we
will sort out a new invite for you straight away.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards
Catherine Budworth and the Theatre Cats Team

Theatre Kittens to launch in Burton

Monday, June 7th, 2010

Theatre Cats is pleased to announce that it will be opening its second Theatre Kittens class for pre-school children aged 2-4 years in Stretton, Burton. The launch date is Wednesday 9th June. The class will take place at The Priory Centre, Church Road, Stretton in Burton on Wednesday mornings at 10:00-11:30am. To register for a free taster class, simply go to www.TheatreCats.co.uk or call 01283 531635.

Theatre Kittens classes involve a variety of skills, including singing, movement and rhythm, imagination building, playing with instruments, dressing up and story-telling through drama. Research shows that early participation in drama, music and the performing arts develops imagination, creativity, confidence, coordination, language and communication skills.

Theatre Kittens will enhance your child’s development through shared activities for you both to enjoy. It’s an ideal way for you to socialise with other parents over a cuppa too.

Theatre Cats also runs classes for 5-16 year olds in Burton, Derby and Newhall. Theatre Kittens also runs a class for 2-4 year olds in Mickleover.

Monday 11th January – Burton Theatre Class still on

Monday, January 11th, 2010
frozen light in a snow weekend, MANZANEDA ☃

Just to inform everyone that the main roads in Burton are currently
fine and lots of students are eager to continue the term and so we have
decided to still run our theatre class this evening.

However, if anything changes in the meantime we will try and contact
everybody.

Please call 01283 531635 if in doubt or if you cannot make it. We
understand that the journey may be more difficult for some and
so in those cases we will leave the decision up to the parent/guardian.

Thank you
